Europe trip - part 1
Well I am now safely on the beach just outside of Genoa the 1000 mile trip went without a hitch ... Except for a minor niggle when I left Rugby heading south ...
Whilst driving I quickly realised there was something wrong - car having to work harder to pull then on touching the brakes an almost violent pull to the left ... Stopping on the A34 I confirmed what I thought ... Front drivers side wheel very hot and full of brake dust... Stuck or sticking brakes!!! Bugger - I could only think of those alpine passes!!!
I exercised the brakes and made my way south slowly pulled into a friends place and when the wheel cooked down took the wheel off and it was obvious the brake was partly engaged ...
I sprayed copious amounts of penetrating oil - there was lots of accumulated brake dust. I checked the two sliding "pins" which were fine and then I pushed the piston back it moved fine - pumped it out - fine. Did it a few times and it was smooth. I then put new pads in - copper greased and cleaned and put back together. (Did pads on other side too of course). Took it for a spin and all was well - 1000 miles later ... No problems!
The Furka Pass was amazing (photos later)!
Sorted it do you think???
Best
