Mk2 mg zr low coolant sensor help :)

As title says am working on an mk2 mg zr thats on an 04plate but only problem i can't solve is the low coolant sensor as when its disconnected the light on the dash goes out but when i plug the sensor in the light stays on even tho the coolant tank has coolat to the correct level so am abit confused lol any ideas would be great :) otherwise i may just have to leave it disconnected but ideally i want to fix it so it works :)
