To change or not to change that is the question.
OK.
Really feel like a change of car, owned mine 6 years this October.
If I keep it I need to do the following:
Sort smoking issue cost??
New Maf £150?
New custom exhaust full system say around £300
Rear wiper motor £25 scrappie
Handbrake compensator needs replacing or fixing somehow
1 new tyre £80
2 new shocks rear £180
Service £80
New slave and master again £150 ish
Plus MOT in October at £40
Grand total of around £1000 ouch and that's me doing all the work myself again.
Assuming I do all of that and the car is still smoking badly then the smoking and fuel cost is still going to be an issue even though I would be more or less happy with the car again if the clutch issues disappear this time.
My biggest two gripes with the car is the fuel economy and the smoking and bogging down under hard acceleration as it feels like is is either injecting way too much fuel or not getting enough air to burn said fuel. Not to mention i am fed up of loosing air in all my tyres badly.
But the big but coming I have been browsing all sorts of cars from little 1.2 petrol Festa, Clios, diesel Focus etc etc and whilst looking at some which are newer than mine but smaller and cheaper to tax insure and run and repair are also small hatchbacks. But I walk back to mine and just think how good it looks and how I will probably miss the size and usefulness of it being an estate. I have also looked at other estates also but with lesser powered engines. God I even looked at Peugeots for god sake.
I feel like I really should buy something that is going to cost me less to repair and cheaper to run and tax and I should be thinking about this with my head not my heart. I also worry that after changing I will wish I had not but sometimes it's about getting from A to B and cheaply and reliably as possible, or at least as much as can be when talking about buying another second hand car.
I have thoght about another ZT or ZTT and trying to keep mine for parts but I have no where to keep it so that probably is not an option and most Zt or ZTT's are way overpriced.
I reckon if I part ex mine I should be able to get £800 or so for it depending on what I am going for.
Thought about Zr's and also a ZS but again they are a big step down from the ZT in my opinion.
So yeah what a conundrum, by other biggest issue with spending a load of money on mine is if I still continue to have clutch problems yet again, this is the biggest issue that drives me wild.
Thoughts ideas and opinions and please don't just say keep the car or buy another I want to look at all other options and opinions.
