Tyre pressures
I see from the hand book that the MG3 tyre pressures should be 32 psi. To be honest, I'd never checked mine, and have now found they are all set to 29.5 psi. I checked with a second meter and got the same answer.
I do feel the handling and ride are fine, and the car almost always only carries one or two passengers, and mainly does short journeys. So should I pump them up to 32? And might this help with the mpg? The car has just done its longest ever trip, to Newcastle Upon Tyne and back (around 350 miles both ways), and the mpg still didn't crack 40. I'm pretty resigned to the poor economy now (the previous fill only gave 30.0 mpg, all around town), but I do wonder if increased tyre pressures might improve matters, hopefully without handling/ride issues. Time will tell - I'll check it out. The car has now done 3650 miles.
Comments welcome.
