Major electrical issue!!!

Hi, right today i had a bit of a problem, im on here hoping someone can give me the direct problem rather then me having to look for it coz i dont think its an easy one, 2005 mg zs 1.6 had no problems with it until today when i went to work ( i own a garage by the way so i sort of know my way around cars!). pulled up at work as normal after a very very wet 30 miles trip, parked as normal but after an hour or so i noticed i left my side lights on!! bugger, run outside jumped in the car to switch them off and they allready were off!! also noticed the ignition was on !!, and the key was in my hand and not in the ignition!! wtf!!. long and sort of it if i start it and cant stop it!, i have the osf side light on all the time but not the nsf, i have the nsf dip light on all the time and not the osf! and if i start it i cant stop it unless i stall it, i can start it and take the key out and it will still run!, only thing i could do quickly to have a look was disconnect the ignition barrel, no differance!! all lights work fine if i switch them on, i dont think its the pektron as i dont think it controls light seperatley or wouldnt let me start the engine and not stop it! im guessing its fusebox and i do have a spare which il be changing tomorrow, but has anyone had the same problem?
