mg zr 160 over presurising ??? and rad fan not working??

As title says just done headgasket and seems to be over presuring the cooling system as in the top pipe on the rad is pretty hard to squeeze after like 30mins of idling but the rad fan doesn't come on and isn't showing its overheating ?? But seems like it could be over heating maybe?? But i don't want to run the car til its sorted any help would be great
