The "rattle of death" vs. the risk of driving my car
I know there's a lot about this topic on the forum, so, sorry to post yet another one, but this plentitude makes it very hard to find the info I am looking for. I get a P1743 error code (read with one of these cheap bluetooth OBD devices and torque on an android tablet) and hear a rattling sound from the engine; also, I can smell fuel or fumes or something in between after I get out of the car.
This rattling sound has been with me ever since I remember, and I've had the car for the last 6 years. My questions are:
1) based on the error code and the sound (and the smell, which migh not be connected to them), can I say what the problem is with a good degree of certainty? (one of VIS motors or the inlet manifold isn't enough - need to know exactly)
2) is it safe to drive the car, or does it need immediate attention?
