clicking/ticking sound

hi all - just wondered if i might borrow from your collected wisdom for some theories about my tf.



whilst driving i am hearing a ticking/clicking sound which appears to emanate from the front of the vehicle, either the wheels or suspension. the speed of the ticking is directly linked to the speed of the car.



when the steering is straight ahead or turned to the left, the sound is there, if i am steering to the right there is no sound. it's a quiet noise, like a loud analogue clock but with a faster tick. when i brake the car gently with the wheel turned to the left, the ticking changes to a louder twanging and i can feel some feedback through the brake pedal. i originally thought it was an abs issue as i hadn't spotted the ticking (i play my music too loud i guess lol). i don't get any twanging when braking with the wheel turned to the right. i have 2 outstanding recalls due to be fixed in october, one for the rear suspension and one for the front lower swivel joint. could these sounds be related to the swivel joint? the upper ball joint on the drivers side has also definitely failed (a separate issue i noticed when changing the pads).



what might cause these sounds? thanks in advance.
