power steering problem

Hello,

Every morning, or when left to stand for a while, on starting car the power steering feels as if its not working-hard to steer pump sounds like its struggling etc- after about 4-6ft! or under some revs it disappears and will drive perfectly all day no issues. So obvious not major problem but not going to get better by itself.. I would imagine pump unit ok as above? any ideas to remedy welcome.
