Misfire MGTF 160 VVC

I have a misfire and cleaned up and reset the plug gap which appeared to improve it. But it has returned.

My issue is that the plug leads with the coil packs(1 and 3) do not connect on to the plug. They just seem to sit on the plug.



This seems to be unusual but the car is 10 years and has never had the coil pack or leads removed so there is no opportunity for the wrong lead to have been fitted.



Can someone please confirm that it is right that the leads on these cylinders don't connect or do I need to replace these leads. with longer ones.
