A quickie, clock, cigar lighter any connection?

Hi, Rover 214i Cab 94/95

As the title asks, is there any electrical connection shared by just the cigar lighter and the digital dashboard clock, which suddenly stopped working after I tried to use the cigar lighter, which also seems not to be working!

The clock was working fine but I had never had a need to try the cigar lighter, so it may never have worked.

Looked at Haynes and can not see any connection between the two, so assume it needs a new clock. Is there a brighter clock on some model that will fit, as I always struggle to read it in daylight?



If anyone is interested, the power steering rack I brought and had fitted was just the job. Glad I followed the advise given in this forum.
