Coolant doesn't seem to flow

I'm not 100% sure what the problem is..



The car had a head gasket earlier this year by the previous owner, i am un-sure weather or not the water pump has been changed. But the heater doesn't seem to blow that warm out of the front facing vents vents, but blows warm onto the window... (it's only warm as i can't select full hot on the controls, it gets stuck at about the 1 o'clock position) which seems strange.



Also had to fill up the coolant last weekend as i noticed it had all gone from the header tank, there is no visible leaks, well not that i have seen anyway, but after i filled up the system, i ran the car around town (needed to get a few bits) then once i got back home i popped the bonnet to see if any water is getting its way back to the header tank. There wasn't :(



Is there anyway to check the water pump is working before i go and order once, or is there a chance one of the return feeds might be blocked?



If anyone has had a similar problem i would appreciate your help
