low power past 3000!!

Hi all. So I recently noticed that my car will pull harder when I'm in 5 th doing 60mph and trying to accelerate. If I drip down to 4th the car will actually lose speed, at this point it's probably at about 3.5-4 x 1000rpm. Any idea why? Also when I put my foot down. There is no smoke comes out the back. Could it just be a dirty fuel system in need of some redex??
