Rover owners: lots of little problems

generally we keep cars for years, hate buying them then wondering "did we do the right thing?" anyway brought back a ZR today to replace an MX5 that we have had for 6 years, and as with any secondhand car theres problems that were not obvious when test driven.

1. chugging at idle

in progress at sorting this [got another thread], its the lambda, its had HG fail and its all been replaced, but with coolant going past the lambda its probably poisoned it, unplugging the lambda made it much better so a new one will be ordered.

2. heater.

1 and 2 not working, easy fix with the right part, but hot and cold doesnt work, looked in engine bay and cable snapped to valve [valve is ok], where can I get the metal rod type inner cable from? can I buy it anywhere? looked all over the 'net and cant even find a used one, it just looks like 2mm metal rod

backlight on heater controls not working

3. clock light not working

could clock light and heater backlight be on same fuse? either way should be an easy fix.

4. window regulator

drivers side regulator has lots of play and really stiff near the top [manual windows], is it an easy fix?

passenger side stiff near the top, can the mech be greased? and rubbers sorted with silicone spray?

5. battery clamp missing

easy fix this, 3 other ZR's I looked at had the battery clamp missing too! found this out when the mrs was in the shop.

6. wheel kit missing

looked in the boot when mrs was still in the shop and although it has a matching hairpin wheel, its wrong side up and theres no wheel jack etc and that foamy holder thing, bought one off ebay locally so pick that up tomorra

7. missing air filter

the mrs was still in the shop, so thought I would check air filter condition, no filter, at factors on tuesday near me mums so will buy one then

so there we go, suggest away!!

but other than that its a cracking car and drives well!
