R25 temp needle

Hello chaps, can't believe it's been 2 years since my last post! Cars been running great :-)



Having a problem with my temp gauge. In stop/start traffic it barely moves to the middle even on a long run. Then when I get on a dual carriageway or motorway, it moves to normal and then when I hit the stop/start again the needle starts to move to the bottom...despite this, the heaters blow nice and hot...



I had a hose fail last month so that was replaced and the cooling system flushed through and refilled. I'm hoping for an easy fix like replacing one of the temp sensors but would a failing stat cause the trouble I'm having? Looking at the Haynes, replacing the thermostat looks difficult!
