Unsucessful bleeding - help please!
I'm having major problems trying to bleed my 160, hopefully someone can offer some advice please.
Have replaced the underfloor coolant pipes, and also the thermostat and thermostat housing (no need to tell anyone how much a pig of a job that is!). now struggling to bleed it. Have followed the guides on here and tried:
From cold - have back of car on axle stands so it's higher. Remove cap, bleed from radiator, then heater matrix, then pipe in engine bay until no bubbles showing.
With engine running, bleed from all three points again with cap off. Car still on axle stands at the rear at this point. Replace cap, fan cuts in as expected.
Temp gauge sitting just below half way, as expected.
Problem is that there is no hot water getting to the front of the car. Radiator hoses are cold, water coming out of the heater matrix bleed screw is cold. No heat from heater vents. Checked that the cable is moving when the heater control is turned, it is.
Any ideas? I'm hoping it's not a problem with the thermostat, I don't want to go through all that again. At the moment it's booked in for MOT on Monday, but I suspect that may have to be postponed at this rate.....
Would bleeding with the rear off the axle stands be likely to make a difference, with the engine running? With the engine running, is it best to have the cap on, or off?
Grateful for any advice please. This is seriously doing my nut in....
Cheers
