Boot catch not catching

Merry Christmas



The catch on by daughters Rover 25 boot is not catching when the boot is shut. It seems to need quite a hard slam before it will catch. I have checked the metal "hook" that bolts to the chassis to make sure this has not slipped and it seems ok. I have put a screw driver in to the catch on the boot and turned the "plate" but it does not stay across in the locked position, it springs back to the unlock position.



Can you advise me what I should be looking at to repair this problem?
