MGF lovely car.....
or was.
I just bought a Red 1998 MGF about a month ago as a bit of fun.
I knew the guy who I bought it from and I trust his judgement about cars, and he had only had the Car about 6 Month.
Any way I was just around my his house, picking up my daughter, when the alternator started to rattle and the battery light came on. I quickly talked to my mate about this who just said go home (about a mile) and we'll fix it at the weekend.
Anyway I got about half way home when the engine cut out; tried to start it again turned over but nothing. oh well no problem I'll just call the AA and walk the rest of the way home.
When I got back I though I'd go back with my Volvo and jump start it.
I tried that and still nothing it was turning over but absolutely no firing.
So when the AA man does turn up, he takes a look down the side of the engine and then calmly informs me that the timing belt has slipped of the bottom pulley and I should try to start it. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !
f$#k.
oh dear I was just getting to enjoy that car, now I think it might be terminal.
How much would a recon engine cost to fit?
Feelling sad.
