Rear door stuck shut.

My MG ZS 2004 has got a new problem. The rear door has been making a plastic clicking noise when closing it for a while. I couldn't find what it was so put up with it as it still worked fine, until now.



When you try to open the door from either inside or outside it releases the catch but just won't go past the safety piece so is stuck open about 10mm.



Me and my son have tried all sorts to get this open to no avail. The door card will be a pain to remove as the door is still closed.



Any advice would be appreciated... :-(
