Rover 200 1.1 k series tuning.

Greetings from Serbia friends. First of all, sorry for my not so perfect English :) Second, from the day i started driving i fell in love with Rover cars....my fist one was MG ZR diesel. But now I have a project car. Its a Rover 200 1.1 8v. Now, i know that any fool can simply swap this small, but charming engine for a bigger unit. But i want to keep the originality of the car, so i need some information from you. What is the best way to upgrade this small 1.1 k series? I heard that if i replace 1.1 ecu and injectors for 1.4 ecu and 1.4 16v injectors, the engine will have more power, but all i noticed is lack of power and constant misfires....any advices?
