Starting problem.

Today i had a problem starting my 45, i was using my tyre inflator on with the key in the ignition turned to position 3, it was left for about 5-10 minutes whilst i had to answer phone in office, i came out and the car would not start,it was a strange noise a bit like a high pitched drilling type sound, had this problem same time last year and had to keep bump starting it was like that until febuary and until now had not occured again.had batterry and alternator checked last time and was found to be ok.cannot put my finger on what the problem is
