T series conversion, diesel pg1 gearbox? wiring? rover 45 coupe project...
I am to be converting my 45 to T series power, and cutting the roof down and inch, losing two doors, using rover 25 B pillars and doors, and lexan windows. but never mind all of that.
I have been informed that the diesel gearbox from the L series bolts up to the T series? If it does, what clutch setup would I need to use?
If it doesn't, would the PG1 from the 1.8 bolt up?
If it doesn't, what gearbox would I use to be able to keep my driveshafts?
As for wiring, my car is stripped bare and I don't give a *naughtyword* about it being neat and tidy.
The donor car is a 620ti, so in theory, could I run both ECUs separately in the car to allow the function of the lights, wipers and other electrics, but run the engine and 620ti rev counter? Would I be right to say that for this to work I would need the 600's wiring loom, ignition barrel, engine, ecu and instrument cluster?
Basically running the engine as a separate entity to the rest of the car.
as I said, I am not fussed about how it looks, I want to know if it will function.
any help would be massively appreciated, this is a heck of a project and is going to take a year of solid work to even drive, let alone be legal or even presentable.
