Top Ten most important cars since the 70s?

auto, motor + sport just published a list of the top ten cars.



It omitted Model T and the Beetle(!) although it had the Mustang(?) so I think the list should have been "since the 70s".



They had:

• Golf


• Mercedes SL (stupid choice as 50s but no Beetle) (and only by saying "since the 70s" can you omit Mini)


• Mazda MX-5


• Land Rover Discovery


• Toyota RAV4


• Seat Ibiza


• Ford Mustang (1968)


• Renault Espace


• Porsche 911


• Mercedes G-Wagen

They chose... poorly IMHO. But if you presume we should be leaving out the Austin 7, the Model T, the Mini, the Maxi and various innovative Renaults from R4 to R16 (and the DS!), what would you include?



(The poll is public and you can't add any other models yourselves so I have added "other small" and "other large". In terms of ideas, Longbridge had a disproportionate number and I have left out the 200/400, the Zeds and the R75. Also not there: Jaguar XJ6, the new German-branded SUVs, Volvo 140/240 or 340, Citroën Saxo, Yaris, C1/Aygo etc., R5, Fiat 127...)
