Bizarre MOT Fail Today
Took my 04TF for annual MOT today and............it failed! Not too unhappy as it was only a nearside TRE and wiper blade which will be sorted this week.
The bizarre issue was that the tester part way through called me under the front. He started poking a large screwdriver into the front subframes and quickly realised he was going thro the thick fabric "plasters" which cover the oval manufactured holes in the subframes. He started to tell me that many testers would fail TFs on this saying they were signs of significant corrosion! Almost speechless I confirmed that they were a design feature and I suspect rubber grommets would be used today. He smiled and said "no problem, yes the subframes were fine!" I now have destroyed coverings over the holes although he says that they are best left uncovered to "breathe"!
Anyone any idea what the holes are for and why they are taped over, or is this just mine?
Overall I am happy. The car is just 11years old and lives in the open. Still solid underneath although I will need to see to the uncalled for "damage".
The failed wiperblade was only 12 months but only paid £1 for a new set last Jan, so good value. Damned odd curved screen!
