Cam Belt - 1 tooth out - help!

Hi,

I'm smack in the middle of doing my timing belt on my 2005 1.4 K.

When I Iine up for 90 degrees BTDC by aligning the crank notch on the timing cover,

I find that the inlet socket is off one tooth anti-clockwise, exhaust ok.

I don't know what to do.

The old belt is still on the car.

If I let the belt off without the camshaft locking tool in place, will the sky fall in?

Will the shafts jump out of position under the pressure of the valve springs and if so, will it be possible to rotate them back into position by hand? How do I hold one in place whilst doing the other?

Would I be better off just doing the belt with the wrong timing? Car drives fine.

By the way I tend to drive in a band of about 600pm above idle, until I reach 5th.

Possible Solution;

Edit: It is not possible to fit the camshaft locking tool at any crank position!

So what will happen if I let the belt off without tool in place?
