CHEAP MG ZR !! - blog/thread !
Hi, i managed to get another mg zr like mine , mk1 in red , very cheap..
its a 2003 diesel with 119k on the clock !
its a fully loaded model with aircon, monaco seats, and even the bonnet insulation and side skirts so someone had all the extras from new !
the previous owner thought the head gasket had gone as it pressurized on the coolant cap and spat out the coolant..
however i took a gamble and took the coolant cap of mine and drove it 50 miles home with no overheating issues what so ever, it didnt even use any coolant, having said that i didnt thrash it and kept it in high gear / low rpm to get it home !
now i was going to break it and store the parts for mine as spares but its too good to break in my opinion, however there is a massive oil leak coming from the back of the engine, i cant figure out whether its from the top or the bottom atm as ive got to clean it and try and find out,, its a huge leak though .. and i dont think its the oil cooler pipes though !
any ideas?
also it does sound a bit rough on cold but once i got home , left it for half hour and re started it , it sounded normal , so my plan is to try and fix the oil leak and a minor service and a tidy up all round and re offer it to the world !
but how can you tell the headgasket has gone?
