engine advice needed...

It looks like me and my car will be spending some more time together.

I noticed a coolant leak by the inlet manifold. This will need fixing to avoid another CHG.

The thing is, now I'm weighing up if it's worth it or not. When my CHG was replaced a year ago, Russel noted that on dismantling there is a chip on my engine block. This is not thought to have been a cause for the HG failure as it is on the opposite side.

But that now leaves me with an engine, that whilst runs very well and should not cause any impact on reliability or performance, has a known fault. Is it worth repairing?

I had hoped to dump a vvc head onto it, vvc exhaust manifold, ecu and loom from a 160. Now the other option is to do a complete engine swap for a vvc unit.

I would much rather go for option A. For all people that know engines, could such a problem cause....well, more problems?

Don't really want to sell the car as it's had so much work done to it that I would feel as if I'm buying into an unknown quantity.
