Queries regarding Inlet Manifold Gasket - Post change
Ok,
I had a slow intermittent coolant loss, no sign of exterior leaking (after I got the Waterpump & Cambelt re-done), no mixing of Coolant/Oil, nice hot heaters.
I bit the bullet and did the IMG as it was my best guess. My friend and I managed it last weekend, and all seems to be well so far.
The coolant came out lovely and clear (looked new!) the Gasket failure wasn't obvious, but it looked a little mucky round the back so possibly seeping through.
I noticed on the opposite side to the Jiggle valve, that there was what looked like ANOTHER coolant passage? but it was a "dead end" inside the Inlet Manifold (Cylinder 4 side), whats this for? Seems a bit odd!
Secondly, when cleaning up the Inlet Manifold & Engine, my friend spotted what looked like a small creamy (mayo) substance inside the Inlet Manifold, port 1 next to Jiggle Valve. none of the other ports had anything in them, it looked fresh too. Could an IMG failure cause this? or would only HGF cause this sort of substance? The engine's been running fine since (so far!), but am keeping an eye on things.
Any thoughts?
