Benefits of the 52mm TB over a modified 48mm

This afternoon I spent a little time swapping the Modified, de-wedged, TV1 48mm TB for a TV5 52mm one. Now I have driven this 97 MGF VVC for some 5,000 miles with the modified 48mm TB so am quite used to how it feels.

So this evening I took her out for a bit of a test drive and a little "blat" so see how she feels with the TV5 fitted.

I was surprised at how much throttle response has improved. Was not expecting it to be as noticable after all there was a distinct improvement once the Modified 48mm TV1 was fitted replacing the std Plastic/Polymer body she arrived still fitted.

The responsiveness is most noticable on light throttle openings and town driving needs almost no pressure on the pedal. For the last couple of months have been driving the MPi which has a TV5 52mm TB fitted so was used to this feeling but as someone said the only way to tell the difference really is drive the same car with both size bodies fitted........................ which I have now done.

So am rather chuffed with this result an can now say that although a modified, de-wedged 48mm alloy body is good the 53mm body is yet better still.
