Boot opening button

So, having locked my keys in the boot and got friction burns trying to pull the seats forward from inside the car, I'm thinking there must be a way to add a boot release button to my mk2 ZR. I have a spare button blank (alongside the air con switch etc) and thought about wiring in a switch that could release the boot. Does anyone know if this is possible, or indeed done it?
