Brakes question for MOT
MGTF is due for an MOT (it has expired) so as I knew that the discs and pads were in a bad way, along with the poor handbrake I did the following:
Fitted brand new discs and pads to the front and rear ensuring that all four calipers were serviceable with no sticky pistons. The sliders are perfect, nothing is seized and the pads are correctly fitted in their grooves and are free to move as they should. Everything is clean, and the new discs have been de-greased.
HOWEVER, on going for a test drive, the car pulls quite sharply to the right on braking and I can lock the front right wheel easily. So I pulled both fronts to bits and checked the discs, calipers, pistons, sliders, pads, the lot, and all seems ok. Put it back together and it is the same.
Any ideas anyone? It's as if the pressure isn't getting to the nearside front but I do not see how this can be, unless I have a hydraulic hose problem.
It should be noted that although the brakes were pretty poor and the discs were shot and the pads sticking in their sliders, and I had an almost useless handbrake before I did this work, at least it pulled up in a straight line.
