Non-Starting facelift CDTI
I wonder if anyone has any ideas....
I have got a diesel Mk2 ZT-T (54 plate my first one) it will not start. I sent the ECU to marinanbrian from the other side as I had a feeling it had got wet pre my ownership as there was a bit of water in the plenums and sure enough there was an issue which luckily Brian sorted for me.
Having had that back it still will not start. The previous owner has given me a quick synopsis of what happened as follows
"I was driving and then the car just cut out, then it would start after a bit then again the same problem. RAC came and said Cam Sensor, I changed that then same problem" The car has then sat since December, I suspect that is when it could have got wet so maybe not related to the starting issue but who knows
It will not start, it cranks fine when I put some easy start in the air intake it tries to fire but I assume as that runs out (under a second) it stops" The pump seems fine making noise, filling the fuel filter (which is new, I changed at the weekend) and I have done the cheat leak back test, fuel pumps out of the fuel pipe into the bottle, the injectors other than a bit of fuel on the surface certainly don't run out.
That is with about 15 secs of cranking so not sure if anymore is needed. I have done the freezer test on the cam sensor and that has no effect.
When I am cranking the needle inside is fluctuating so I think that means the crank sensor is Ok?
Any help appreciated.
