automatic cambelt tensioner queery
Hi all!
Recently put a new head gasket in my rover 45 along with a new cambelt tensioner and waterpump.
All went well except when tensioning the new belt try as i might i cant keep the tensioner correct ...
Ill set it perfectly and it will all be fine turn over fine by turning the crank manually...
But as soon as the engine runs the tensioner will over tension itself somehow ? Is this just a natural phenomenon ?
I dont understand how it over tensions surely if it was going to go anywhere it would slacken ?
Either way it runs perfectly and the timing is perfect.
Thank you to MGJohn for his helpful advice too!
Thanks Louis
