New acquisition...75th Anniversary MGF

This was offered at a good price on the Register forum and here is what she looked like in the storage unit:-















Yes it's another restoration project and the reason why "Blue 33" my MPi is being prepared for sale. The Chancellor has decreed one must go !!!!!! "Sniff!"



She has been sat on a drive way then in this storage for over 18 months, in the storage since December it seems, and was parked up after boiling up. Oil is clear but no coolant in expansion tank. She was located near Tamworth soa fair way from home and a non runner so transport was needed to get her home which happened finally today.



Well she is here now we can start sorting out the issues and first will be getting a charged battery on her and lowering the drivers window as it's over ridden the stop so the door cannot close properly:-







So this window issue needs sorting pronto!



Now we know she over heated, boiled up, and the expansion tank was empty. Emptying the boot of the shelf carpet and insulation, grill and tonnaue cover revealed several pop bottles one with water still in it........................... hmmmmm :shutup: . So got the jug and poured in so clean tap water to near the top of the tank then went the front and undid the bleed screw on the radiator and we got coolant out so the system was only a little down it seems. The radiator however has had it:-















Am thinking this is a big part of the cooling system problem along with this knackered expansion tank cap:-







Already have a new radiator waiting to be fitted and put a new battery in the alarm fob. Weather permitting tomorrow will put a charged battery on her and see if the alarm and imobiliser is working OK. Only got one fob but two keys so that will need addressing in the near future. Noticed that she will new her headlights replacing:-











As they are both clouded with the passenger side being the worst effected.



Although I didn't notice when veiwing her the grills in the front bumper have been replaced with rather open stainless meshing. Not sure if I like it or not but it's not important for now. Sorting the coolant leaks is and seeing if the radiator fan works then if she will turn over. Then hopefully running as this will make it easier to move on the drive and up onto ramps.
