Who would like a little project ?

Here we go, time to save one if you dare ;)

1992 3 door 214Si in Azure Blue over Tempest grey "Thunderbird One"

A little background into this car, I was introduced to the owner some eight or nine years back, when post poor HGF repair it was running exceptionally badly.

The fault turned out to be distorted valve seats and the resultant low compression on cylinders two and three had played havoc with the fueling.

So off with the head, valve seats recut, ground in and everything boxed back up with fantastic end results in terms of performance.

Sadly as the car had been run for some months with massive over fueling, there had been a considerable amount of "bore wash"

fast forward six months, and I sourced an exceptionally low mileage (31K) 1995 214SEi, which was terminally ill with tinworm.

So the stage was set for TB1's transformation.....

Out with the entire wiring loom from the 1995 car, engine, box, front subframe power steering rack etc etc.

So the "new" parts were installed into TB1, along with a complete new clutch, water pump and timing belt, transforming it from a non PAS, non central locking, single point injection car, into a smooth running, "luxury" R8 :)

Fast forward another eight years.......

TB1 has provided it's owner Andrew with absolute sterling service, and rather than be rewarded with a final trip to meet it's maker in Rover heaven he woul d like to offer him to someone who would be prepared to bring him back to his former glory :)

Now at this stage I will point out TB1 will require a bit of remedial bodywork, mainly to the rear edges of the arches where they meet the rear bumper, and a pair of wings would be advisable.

It's not all bad though, the underside is very good, the fuel tank has been replaced, and exhaust is sound, tyres have plenty of tread in fact mechanically he's still in fine fettle.

Jobs I've attended too in the past include.......

New front discs and pads

New front calipers

New compliance bushes in the rear trailing arms.

I could go on ad infinitum, however it's safe to say, he still starts, stops and drives very well, doesn't have a drink problem (either coolant or oil) ;)

Complete with two keys, two working 3TXA plips, EKA original radio  and service history, as three door R8's are becoming increasingly thin on the ground these days, I'm hoping someone will be prepared to rehome the little lad :)

Now I know what the car is worth in terms of scrap value, however it it more important than monetary worth to the owner, to secure someone with the time and ability to lavish the care and attention Thunderbird One is crying out for.

If anyone is interested, drop me a PM with some contact details, and I will pass them on to TB1's owner.

All the best

Brian :D

P.S. Thunderbird One is a pre-catalytic converter model, so no nasty cat to worry about :D
