13 years old - finally time for a new battery

The battery in my ZR is still the original factory fitted battery. Considering the car was built in June 2003 that makes the battery at least 13 years old.

It is slowly starting to show signs of its age now. After a few days of the car sitting it's beginning to sound a little lazy turning the starter motor and if I sit with any of the electrics on with the engine off for any period of time (interior lights/stereo) it is also sounding a little low on 'oomph' for cranking then too.

It always starts, but I can just sence it's not quite as it should be. I think 13 years from a battery is excellent and very impressive. Anyway a new one is now ordered, don't want to be caught out now I know it's showing the signs of getting a bit long in the tooth.

I should probably mention that I know the alternator is good and all earthing is good too. It's just time for a fresh supply of juice.

Anyone else had similar battery life before, or anyone still on the original battery?

Let's block ads! (Why?)
