My 1999 F has decided to spring on me an intermittent fault, just to make me smile. This fault is that the starter won’t work when the key is turned. Yes I’ve checked the solenoid connection. 99% of the time it works just doody, but then for no reason it fails. The pump comes on and when you turn the key to the start position nothing happens except the oil temp gauge drops. So its definitely drawing current, but nowt else. Then it will work fine for days.
So what I am after is a good starter motor with solenoid so I can swap it over when I’m next under the car. Which is usually every week !!!! other than that it could be a poor earth or duff battery, but I’ve given these a quick check and all seem ok.
