Biggin Hill Newbie
Hi everyone,
I always fancied a MGF and now I'm old I can afford one.
What I wanted and what I've brought are two very different things.
I wanted to dip my toe into the world of MGF and see if it was a 5 minute thing or if I really wanted one. Every time the F of my dreams came up it was either hundreds of miles away or gone by the time I called the owner.
In the end I purchased a 97 BRG MGF with 9 month mot and a hard top for £150 😀👍
My thinking being, if I get there month use out of it, I can sell the hard top and get my money back.
Good points - cheap
Bad points - 92,000 on original head gasket.
So I may have purchased a financial time bomb. Only time will tell.
Everything else aside, I'm loving the car and the plentiful supply of cheap spares means I have a weekend project to fiddle with from now on.
So far I've installed rear t bar with speakers, replaced the door lock as interior lights
Weren't working, got a cheep hood to replace the slightly ripped/repaired one it came with. Swapped the nasty radio for a kenwood unit, plus lots of silly cosmetic stuff.
My next job is to get to the bottom of the dreaded battery drain problem so I'll be asking questions and reading threads in these great forums (forii ?)
I look forward to receiving and giving help here on a regular basis.
Cheers
Dodgy Dave
