Geely to take on MG in Europe
Geely to take on MG in Europe
Geely (owners of Volvo and London Taxis) is set to launch a new brand in Europe and the US in 2018, called Lynk & Co. Initial vehicle is a small hybrid SUV (petrol/electric).
The range has been overseen by Geely's design chief Peter Horbury, a former top designer at Ford and Volvo.
Geely will keep down costs by internet retailing and owning its own outlets, helping it to sell cars at “highly competitive” prices. The cars will offer a high level of web connectivity hence the name Lynk. Owners can earn money by sharing their vehicles with others when they do not need them.
Geely does seem to be doing something genuinely different here and its direct sales approach reminds me of Daewoo when it came to the UK.
