Changing dipped beam bulb.

I'm sure I've changed this one before, but I can't seem to do it this time. 75 CDTi, drivers side lamp, pulled the connector off, and I thought there should have been one of those god awful fiddly spring clips to contend with, but I couldn't feel one in there. The bulb just seemed to twist/pull out. I have visions of removing the bumper and the headlamp unit just to change the bulb!
