Hi - I have just joined and looking for advice - I am going to look at a 2002 MG TF (1.8) tomorrow it has 41k on the clock and a hard top with MOT until April (I have checked MOT history online and looks ok) - It will be kept in the garage over the winter and used as a summer fun car - I am after some advice on the head gasket risk - is it safer to simply place into a garage and get the timing belt and head gasket replaced in one go or would good maintenance help preserve the gasket - I have read a lot of old posts on the subject - I am buying from a dealer who knows a bit of history but I have not seen the paperwork - I did think to sell the hard top as it is a summer car (only) but again what is the main advantage of keeping it ? The car is £790 - thanks Matthew
