Question Regarding Handbrake (Or lack of)
Question Regarding Handbrake (Or lack of)
Ever since dad bought his 75 the handbrake has been really poor, to the point that it'll just about bite if he pulls the lever as far as he possibly can (almost vertical).
So we decided to take it to Eurofit (Bilston) today, and the guy who saw us said that to fix the problem (I suspect he's blaming the shoes) ALL 4 discs and pads have to be replaced first (total cost £290). So my questions are:
1. Is this true, or is he trying to pull a fast one? (brakes and pads look fine to me.)
2. Could the shoes really be gone @ 105k?
3. What about corrosion? I've heard excess rust on the drum can cause the handbrake to become next to useless.
4. Would a worn compensator cause it?
Thanks
David
