Door locks advice

My driver's door keyhole appears to be misaligned... the key will not go all the way in, but stops just short only inserting about 3/4 way in. It goes in far enough that it will turn fully anti clockwise and unlock, but turning clockwise only moves slightly and the lock starts to engage then releases again. The fob works fine and deadlocks both doors as it should, but I do also get regular alarm activations.

Is this likely to be a faulty locking mechanism? Just looking for some pointers really before I take the door card off.
