75 heater controls

Hi all,

I saw a rover 75 for sale, a 2005 one, must be one of the last ones.

What was strange is the heater controls are 3 round knobs as in a rover 25 !

Temperature, position etc, and a fourth hole blocked off.

I've never seen this before. Does anyone have an explanation ?
