Brake Wear Indicator Noise.
Here's the story.
During the weekend, I got a pair of tyres changed at a well known National chain (Only useful for changing tyres and not much else). Anhoo. 'Chummy' then advised me the rear brake pads needed changing as he could hear the brake pad wear indicators making a noise. Really says I. I couldn't hear it and the pads were changed last year, I replied (They haven't even done 3000 miles).
Now. The manual describes the noise the wear indicators make as a "Mechanical screech". Just to make sure. I drove home today with the radio off and the rear windows down. Nothing. Just wind noise and the traffic stuff.
Can anyone describe what the noise is supposed to be like and how loud it is. I just want to make sure that that this National chain are up to their normal tricks (That's why they only get used for tyres and air-con recharges).
