Gearbox whine

Hi guys,



I have started to notice a fair amount of gearbox whine, now it could be a case of "they all do that sir" and I have just noticed something that has always been there. However thought it best to ask in case of impending gear box detonation :)



Its fairly quiet but easily noticeable without the radio on (at the moment my center console is out). If I sit in 3rd at 30 it sounds like a supercharger lol.



Is this normal or should I be worried? Car has 40k miles on it.
