2004 mg zr td+ 115 ps- £750 - LEF (Xpower Grey)
PLEASE READ WHOLE ADVERT
Hi folks now for sale is my once beloved ZR TD+ 115.
Ive owned this car around 9 months and loved it to start with, unfortunately I bought the car with no service history but I had months of trouble free motoring, unfortunately the cambelt snapped before I had a chance to get it done, rather than weigh it in to the scrappy I decided to spend the time and money getting it rebuilt,
As the belt had snapped the pistons had smashed into the cylinder head, the pistons were ok but naturally the valves were bent.
At this stage the work I had done was;
-New (used) Cylinder head
-Full headset including head gasket and new bolts
-Glow Plugs
-New Cam belt
-New Fuel pump belt
The car started and ran nicely but after about 10 miles the turbo decided to blow so back to the drawing board.
Next step as you can imagine was to order a used turbo and pay to have that fitted, obviously fresh oil and filter installed again, the car was now running well again but with an incessant squeal coupled with water loss and air getting into the coolant system. We diagnosed this to be the water pump so after changing that (time consuming) the coolant loss stopped but unfortunately the squealing had not stopped!
Turned out to be the idler on the cambelt side so again the belt came off for the new tensioners to be installed.
After all this the car would not start very well, found out recently from a very helpful forum member that the timing was out on the fuel pump side by only a fraction!
So with all this done I though surely I was due some luck but now a whining has just started to come from the gearbox (I think!) I have just had enough now hence the car has to go as I cannot BEAR to spend another penny on the car. Im sure if someone sorts the final teething problems out they will have a great car for another 60,000 miles!
There is about 11 months MOT on the car which it passed easily, 4 excellent tyres and Tax until the end of the month. 129k on her.
Now to help whoever buys the car I also have a rover 25 Facelift in exactly the same colour with a seized 2.0TD engine so if someone buys it and wants a gearbox or anything else eg intercooler hoses etc then they can nick some parts from the 25 to keep the zed nice. Unfortunately I bought the car after I had all this work done so couldnt nick a lot off it or I'd have saved myself quite a few quid!
The car has a few basic upgrades EG aftermarket alloys, BMC DIA airfilter, SDI injectors, she is a bit rough body wise, so rust on one of the arches, couple of dings/dents and scratches on her aswell.
I believe the 115 zr is quite rare now with the rear disks, this car still pulls like an absolute train which I can show you on a test drive.

To summarise whats been done to the car
-Replacement cylinder head
-New headset (new head bolts and all head gaskets)

I will be sad to see it go and will miss the great help on the forum, may buy another one as a fun car but I'm extremely short on time as of this current moment, I'm looking for a Leon/Golf/BMW/Audi Diesel so if anyone has one 05 onwards (newer shapes) then I will obviously give you a few grand your way as well as the car.
If an enthusiast or someone who has the time to fix the problem has this then they have plenty of parts and will have a nice car for less than the £1500+ that I see a lot of them on ebay for!
Sorry for the doom and gloom folks and believe me no one is more gutted than I am.
SEAT BOLSTER AND RIPPED STEERING WHEEL ARE INCLUDED IN THE SALE, I advise you to come and see the car to make your mind up I will show you the engine etc is sound as a pound and pulls like hell, MPG is good also.
Please inbox me for any questions folks and the car is in Newport in South wales and should be fine to drive home.
Will sell it as spares/repairs I don't want any more aggro from this car
