143 vvc to mems 3

I'm after a bit more power for my F (2001 mpi with mems 3 ecu) and had planned to get hold of a 160 engine , ecu etc to transplant in. however these engines seem to be hard to get hold of and the 143 vvc seems a bit more available.

can the 143 vvc be made to run on mems 3? I'm hoping that my existing wiring loom will be able to fit and allow remapping in the future. also what ecu should be used (will a 160 ecu work?)

all just thoughts at the minute so will welcome any input :)
