My ZR in a scrapyard in Whitburn
so i got a call from the insurance saying my ZR is a write off... they said just over two grand to repair it.
I asked the guy where it was likely to end up, and he said a yard in Whitburn(halfway between Glasgow and Edinburgh)... so if anyone is after some bits for their diesel ZR in that area, mine should be turning up any day.
Its a 4 door 52 plate in Starlight Silver with front end damage
useable bits include...
boot/tailgate/(has beginnings of rust forming around the lock but is saveable)
rear lights
back bumper
rear doors
front doors have a little rust but nothing too major
has a decent spare(spacesaver)
hairpins in mostly reasonable condition, a couple have scratches but should be sortable
front tyres are still decent(about 8 months old)
rear tyres slightly older
parcel shelf
speakers
rear seat(matrix)
passenger seat(although the clips are broken on the cover)
engine still sounds and feels good, its done just over 150,000. while i have owned the car all major engine work and some servicing has been done by the local MG specialist-Chic Doig Sportscars...it will do the same miles again no problem, although it was coming up for a new timing belt
all glass, front windscreen replaced in the last year or so
door mirrors
rear mirror
dashboard/ clocks etc
centre console/switches/knobs
steering wheel
front lights with the exception of the drivers side indicator are fine
resistor pack should be ok and isnt that old
bad bits...
front wings are fairly heavily rusted at the top of the arches and have been warped by the impact, particularly the drivers side...probably unusable unless really desperate..the rusting is heavy enough to more than likely form a hole when you rubbed it down
front bumper, probably not useable, at least one plastic insert is heavily scratched too
bonnet has a fair sized wave, maybe not useable, would certainly need a bit of work if it was, the way the bumper has been driven in under it, means its jammed shut
drivers side front indicator smashed
heater matrix...disconnected as it was leaking badly and is probably disintegrated
drivers seat...the seat itself is fine, the covers are heavily ripped, both upper and lower
possible bad bits
couldnt open the bonnet, so cant really see if the radiator/fan have been damaged...although as above, car still sounds and feels ok, around town anyway
i really hope someone in need can find it and use it to help their ZR
