OK, I like the MG3

I haven't driven one (yet), but having looked over quite a few at MG90, I have to say I rather like the MG3. I recently bought (but haven't yet taken delivery) a new car in this price sector and I'm now thinking that I should have taken the MG3 more seriously.

The top of the range model with the right graphics added, has a real presence about it and manages to stand out from the crowd. For me, it works well in white, red and the nice gold colour particularly.

Two things let it down (imo) and one of those was the main reason I overlooked it when I was looking for a new car. That reason is fuel economy. I do a 60 mile per day round trip (commuting) and it just couldn't compete with a good number of alternatives. That's a shame. Having said that, it's a great buy for someone who isn't clocking up a large(ish) number of miles

The exterior has a good look about it, from most angles. The interior, overall is quite good, but the dash just looks rather bland, cheap and plasticky (not uncommon in the price sector in fairness). What a shame MG aren't able to offer a 'premium' interior across the dash area. Maybe an extra few hundred pounds could have introduced a carbon fibre dash option, or something else to liven it up a bit? I did see some with red surrounds to the vents, which made a slight improvement.

I've heard good reports about the drive and handling. I've also heard it said that it's a little underpowered, although making good use of the gearbox helps.

All in all, for anyone not doing too many miles, it seems like one of the best value cars on the road to me!
